Basketball, Cantù-Piacenza at the Paladesio on Sunday

Pallacanestro Cantù is back on the Desio parquet next Sunday at 6 pm to meet Piacenza.

The red and whites, coached by coach Stefano Salieri, are currently seventh in the Serie A2 green group standings with 16 points and come from three consecutive defeats. An opponent who, numbers aside, should not be underestimated. Last season Cantù and Piacenza met twice, winning once each.

“Piacenza is always a formidable team, which compared to last season has a different structure and is experiencing fluctuating performance – explains the white and blue assistant coach Max Oldoini -. They can boast the best scorer in the group, McGusty, and the best rebounder, Skeens. They therefore have excellent Americans and very talented Italian players. We will have to play a very careful game, because they are very good in the first eight seconds of the action. They are capable of finding high-level baskets both with the ball in hand and with cuts. We will have to take care of the defensive transition and we will not have to suffer from their tactics. We are doing a lot of physical and technical work. The goal – concludes Oldoini – is to be ready, avoiding the lapses in concentration that still happen to us during matches. We have to be careful not to waste balls.”
