Badminton Ahn Se-young beat world champion for two weeks in a row to win the championship

Ahn Se-young (20, Samsung Life Insurance), world No. 2, is on a steep rise, adding two wins in the women’s singles of the World Badminton Federation (BWF) World Tour.

Following the Indian Open on the 22nd, Ahn Se-young also won the Indonesia Masters on the 29th. From the runner-up in the Malaysian Open on the 15th, she reached the finals in three consecutive tournaments at the start of the 2023 season world tour.

The 2021/2022 world championship winner Yamaguchi Akane (25, Japan) and the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic gold medalist Carolina Marin (29, Spain) were defeated and won the badminton world tour.

Ahn Se-young has a total of 13 wins on the world tour, from the 2019 New Zealand Open to the Indonesia Masters. During his fifth season, he experienced a total of 19 finals, including runner-up six times.

Last year, Ahn Se-young rose to the world class in badminton women’s singles by winning bronze medals at the Asian Championships and World Championships. With the start of this year’s international competition schedule, last year’s major competitions are proving that they are not sparkling.

Soon, Ahn Se-young ▲2012 London Olympic Gold Medalist Richie Rui (32, China) ▲2013 World Championship winner Ratchanok Inthanon (27, Thailand) ▲Marine ▲2019 World Championship winner Pusalarla Venkata Sindhu (27, India), etc. It has risen to an opponent’s overall advantage against 4 champions.

Richerui has retired, but Sindoo and Inthanon, who are still active, are clearly inferior to Ahn Se-young with 0-5 and 1-3. If the gap with the current strongest Yamaguchi is further narrowed, the gold medal in the Hangzhou Asian Games, which will be held in September and October, is also worth looking forward to.

Ahn Se-young has a record of 6 wins and 10 losses against Yamaguchi. She lost the Malaysian Open title in the opening match of her 2023 World Tour, but she made up for it by winning the India Open.

Being weak with 2 wins and 8 losses to 2021 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Chen Yu-fei (24, China) is also a task that needs to be overcome to aim for the top spot in the women’s singles at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
