Austrian Eva Pinkelnig offers herself the New Year’s Eve Tour

Austrian Eva Pinkelnig won the first edition of the New Year’s Eve Ski Jumping Tour on Sunday in Ljubno (Slovenia), after her third success out of the four competitions on the program of this competition inspired by the famous Tour of Four springboards. Pinkelnig, already victorious in the two competitions in Villach (Austria) on Wednesday and Thursday, won with jumps of 93.5 m and 89.5 m for a total of 253.4 points, ahead of the Norwegian Anna Odin Stroem, victorious the day before on this same springboard, (250.4 pts) and the German Selina Freitag (246 pts).

Pinkelnig, 34, signed his fourth victory of the winter in the World Cup and consolidates his first place in the general world ranking. She clearly dominated the general classification of the New Year’s Eve Tour with her total of 1,030.3 points, ahead of Stroem (1,004 pts) and the Slovenian Nika Kriznar (980.3 pts).

The International Ski Federation (FIS) announced in April that a women’s Four Hills Tournament was under consideration for next season (2023/2024), 71 years after the creation of the men’s competition.
