Arsenal extend league lead with derby win over Tottenham

Dhe English football leaders Arsenal have clinched their next win in the Premier League and also prevailed in the prestigious North London derby. At arch-rival Tottenham Hotspur, the in-form Gunners deservedly won 2-0 (2-0) on Sunday and thus further extended their lead in the table.

An own goal by Spurs keeper Hugo Lloris (14th minute) and a goal by Martin Ödegaard (36th) were enough for Arsenal in the poisonous duel to win away. Tottenham only came into play better in the second half and put a lot of pressure on Arsenal, especially in the final quarter of an hour. But it wasn’t enough for Harry Kane and Co. to score.

Arsenal are unbeaten in 12 Premier League games. The team of Spanish coach Mikel Arteta left the pitch as winners ten times. The lead over defending champions and current runners-up Manchester City is eight points after 18 games. Spurs have 14 points fewer than Arsenal and are only fifth.

Before the game, Spurs fans clashed with security forces at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as some supporters tried to get through to the arriving Arsenal fans.
