San Lorenzo cannot get its head out of the water in the National Basketball League. The team led by Emmanuele Quintans could not end the eight-match streak without victory and lost again, this time against Peñarol de Mar del Plata at the Roberto Pando de Boedo Sports Center, something that continues to complicate their situation this season.
In the first half, San Lorenzo had good passes in the match, beating the Milrayitas team at times. Perhaps without such lucidity in attack, but with solid defences, the team always kept within striking distance on the scoreboard, and midway through the second quarter, with an 8-0 run, they managed to go ahead by six on the scoreboard. But after a timeout requested by the coach from Mar del Plata, the visit improved, and with two bombs from Valinotti, and the former NBA player, Al Thornton at a very high level, turned history around and went up 42-35 at halftime.
In the second half, Quintans’ men were erased from the parquet by their rival. The Barça team suffered many losses in attack, it was too difficult for them to control Peñarol’s internal game, and that was how they quickly ended up leaving the game. By the end of the third quarter, they were already trailing by 20 goals, and in the final 10 minutes, at which time Peñarol started with the rotation to take care of their legs, the team was unable to close the gap until the final moments, when they were able to do so with a couple of bombs followed.
The strength of Leguizamón in the duel against Peñarol and the support of San Lorenzo
Thus, San Lorenzo ended up falling by a resounding 75-99 in a game where the best ended up being Federico Marin with 19 points and seven rebounds, and Raúl Pelorosso with 13 goals, four assists and five recoveries.
With this defeat, the Cyclone accumulates nine losses in a row in this National League, and remains in the red part of the standings with a record of four wins and 14 losses, although still outside the playout positions. In the next match, the Barça team will receive San Martín de Corrientes on Saturday from 8:00 p.m., trying to recover.
