Alonso Meana, the only Asturian player on the Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto squad, is negotiating with the club to end his relationship to sign for a team in which he can have more participation. Meana began the season enjoying many minutes, but since the team from Oviedo recovered all its troops and signed Marc Peñarroya as point guard, Trifón Poch has been counting less on the player from Gijón, who in recent days has played some five or six minutes per game. The two parties seem prone to an agreement, so Meana is close to completing his second spell at OCB, from whose youth system he made the leap to the first team. In the summer of 2019 he moved to the United States to enroll in the second division University of Illinois Springfield, and the following year he processed the transfer to Holy Names, in California, although he did not play there due to the pandemic. A few months later he returned to Oviedo Basketball at the hands of Natxo Lezkano. Alimerka Oviedo will once again resort to the market to cover Meana’s card.
