Alberdi’s participation in the Federal League was officially presented

This Thursday, Alberdi’s presentation was made in the 2023 Federal Basketball League, a historic fact since it will be the first time that a cast from Villa Mercedes plays the category. The “Azurra” will debut on February 11 in Bell Ville and on the 15th will be his first appearance at home against Almafuerte de Las Varillas.

The red and blue colors dressed the entrance to the Estadio Único La Pedrera and the illusion of seeing the “orange” in the air grows day by day in Villa Mercedes. This Thursday, a Press Conference was held with the official presentation of Alberdi’s participation in the Federal Basketball League. The Secretary of Sports, Cintia Ramirez; the Secretary of Sports and Tourism of Villa Mercedes, Claudia Miranda; the director of the Sergio Dacuña Park; the president of Alberdi, Sergio Villegas; the DT, Santiago Turri, and the players Agustín Mas Delfino and Maximiliano Ríos.

It should be noted that with eight conferences and a total of 102 teams, the most federal tournament in the country will start in a few days. The 2023 edition of the third category of Argentine basketball has a tentative start date for the 28th of this month, while the debut for the mercedinos in the Central Conference, Zone 2 will be on February 11 against Atlético and Bell Ville Library, and the 15 will be measured at home against Almafuerte de Las Varillas.

The “Azurra” will face the competition with a coaching staff that is largely local, reinforcements that mix hierarchy and knowledge of the category, with names to project and local players to strengthen, and a common message: leave the province’s basketball in the higher.

Technical Staff:

DT: Santiago Turri – 34 years old – Villa Mercedes.

With extensive experience as a technical assistant, Turri became Alberdi’s main coach after a successful performance in Titanes de Barranquilla (Colombia). Internationally, he was also part of the Santos de San Luis Potosí, Abejas de Guanajuato, both in Mexico, and Deportes Castro de Chile. In Argentina, Santiago, he achieved a memorable promotion as Comunicaciones de Mercedes to the National League, and was part of the teams of Unión de Santa Fe, Huracán de Trelew, Hindú, and Banda Norte, among others.

AT: Alan Collado – 25 years old – San Luis. Coming from the Spanish Society, with experience in provincial basketball teams.

PF: Leandro Quiroga – 27 years old – Villa Mercedes. In 2022 he served in Alberdi’s physical preparation in the provincial tournament.

Reinforcement:

Agustín Mas Delfino – 25 years old – San Luis – Shooting guard or Small forward. He hails from Jachal in the Argentine League. He played for Estudiantes de Concordia, Rivadavia, Rocamora, GEPU, Sportivo Escobar, Hindu de Resistencia, and Atenas de Córdoba. He resigned his contract to return to his San Luis.

Maximiliano Ríos – 41 years old – San Nicolás – Base or Escort. He made his debut in 1997 in the National League with Regatas de San Nicolás. He went through Clayton State University of Georgia, Boxing Club of the Patagonian League, Wiltz of Luxembourg, Belgrano de San Nicolás, Cyclist Juninense, Spanish Association of Charata, Rosario Central, Temperley de Rosario, El Dorado, Quilmes de Mar del Plata, Sarmiento de Resistencia, Alianza de Viedma, Salta Basket, Jáchal, Zarate Basket, last step through Macabi de Mendoza.

Pedro Amoros – 27 years old – San Justo – power forward. From Sportivo Las Parejas. He went through Racing, Municipality of

Junín, and Independiente de Oliva among others.

Jonathan Thorp – 31 years old – Esquel – power forward. From Atlético Tala. Played in Jachal, Monte Hermoso Basket, 9

de Julio, Estudiantes, Agrupación Deportiva Estudiantil Villaguay, and Sporitvo Las Parejas, among others.

Ignacio Farías – 22 years old – Río Cuarto – point guard. From Bigua, Neuquén. He played in Estudiantes de Río Cuarto,

Communications, and Pierce.

Francisco Imaz – 19 years old – Río Cuarto – base. He has gone through the Río Cuarto Athletic Association, July 9, Las

Partridges, Central Argentino, Sparrows, and last pass through Montmartre.

Fabricio Gentile – Sub 23 – Wilde – center/power forward. Coming from the pre-federal tournament dispute in Capital.

Santiago Costa – 18 years old – San Luis – base. From GEPU of San Luis.

Thiago Stefani – 19 years old – Villa Mercedes – small forward/power forward. With training in Alberdi, he comes from Club Sportivo Realicó.

Lautaro Blarasin – 21 years old – San Luis – power forward. He arrives from the Spanish Society of San Luis passing through Bolivar de Carlos Paz.
