Aire-sur-la-Lys: center of European badminton for several days!

Hauts-de-France is a land of welcome for large-scale sports competitions, including the Hauts-de-France athletics meeting at theArena covered stadium of Liévin, among others. And at the start of the year, the territory of Pas-de-Calais will host another high-level competition, the European mixed team badminton championships. The eight teams taking part in the competition will be Germany, England, Bulgaria, Denmark, Scotland, France, the Netherlands and Ukraine.

The Hauts-de-France region can boast of having high-level sports complexes. Labeled “Playground 2024“, the Hauts-de-France are committed to being a land where sport has its place, because it unifies, conveys emotions and beautiful values. The Aire-sur-la-Lys sports complex benefits from a large training area ideal for practicing high-level badminton. It includes a play area that can accommodate up to 9 badminton courts and has stands with 1,000 seats.

It’s time to get your tickets for this moment of sport that will give you an adrenaline rush! This sports complex has a great CV! In July 2012, it hosted the international delegations for the London 2012 Summer Olympics with 8 Olympic-qualified badminton athletes who prepared in this centre: France, Ireland, Scotland, the Netherlands, Spain and Guatemala. And in 2015 and 2018, it hosted the qualifying phase of the European Championship by mixed teams: Israel, France, Austria, Slovakia, Faroe Islands, Estonia.

It’s a real challenge for this club! But all the volunteers are motivated to make this great sporting event a complete success. After several organizations of qualifying phases, this is a crucial moment for the Airoi Steering Wheel Clubs to organize the final phase which will bring together the eight best teams in Europe. A challenge that the members of the club will be able to take up hands down!

It will be an important moment for our territory and the opportunity to introduce badminton ahead of this competition with events for the general public from all over the Hauts-de-France league.
