“As if I were a criminal,” is how Dennis Schröder describes the actions of the police in Los Angeles

After a game with the Los Angeles Lakers, Dennis Schröder was stopped by the police. Heavily armed officers arrest the basketball player and his entourage. One of his companions “had to lie on the ground at a gas station with his arms and legs spread”.
NAfter the home win against the San Antonio Spurs, NBA professional Dennis Schröder was stopped by the police on his way home. The van of the German national basketball team captain was stopped on Thursday evening (local time) because there was a suspicion that the car had been stolen. The Los Angeles Lakers point guard had to step out with his hands up and was briefly handcuffed. A friend who was driving the car was forced to lie on the ground at a gas station with his arms and legs spread. Minutes later the clarification came: It was a misunderstanding.
Schröder sat in the back of the big van. After he was emphatically asked by the police to slowly get out, he did so with his hands on his head, as the Braunschweig native described the events on his YouTube channel. “When I was with them, they put my arms down and handcuffed me. But also really jerky. And I think to myself: Hey, what happened?” reported the 29-year-old.
“If I tell you, there were 20, 25, 30 cars at the end. So real alarm. I see cops with shotguns, pistols, Uzis and I have no idea what kind of guns they had. It was like being a criminal doing something. That was crazy. I’ve never seen anything like it,” Schröder continued.
The police thought the car was stolen. Schröder was then able to clarify that the license plates came from his Cadillac, which he had sold a year earlier. “In the end they did well and helped us. Then everything cleared up. Luckily nothing happened to anyone. We then got home safely, ”said the family man.
Anthony Davis made his comeback with the Lakers in a home win against San Antonio. Schröder shines particularly on the defensive. The captain of the German team scored 113:104 on Wednesday evening (local time) in addition to his nine points, four stolen balls and two blocks. There were also eight rebounds, five of them under his own basket.
