“A return to school with its share of inaccuracies”, estimates the coach of the Blues

Guillaume Gille was satisfied with the result of the Blues against the Netherlands (43-32) but pointed out some hesitations despite everything.

Guillaume Gille (coach of France, winner of the Netherlands): “It’s a first match like a first match, a return to school with its share of inaccuracies, errors, which are also logical given the moment when we are in our preparation.

Despite everything, there was a superb commitment and state of mind throughout the game which made it difficult for us to take precedence over the Netherlands, whose pugnacity we know. It’s a great work game because we had to brace ourselves, find a little more defensive regularity in the second half to manage to place our game in attack and find more precision.

Luka Karabatic (captain of France): “There was good and less good, a bit of everything. We saw that it was the first game because there are a lot of things to improve but the desire is there. We knew we had little handball behind us, there is still some rhythm to find but in the end we won a fairly clear victory against a good team. It was a good working match, I hope we will improve. We’re not ready yet but we’ve had experience behind us which will help us to speed up the last phase of preparation. There is still a match (Saturday against Egypt) but the final adjustments are made when the competition begins. I think we’ll be ready.»
