5 years of elite women’s cycling with Massi-Tactic

The Massi-Tactic UCI Women’s Cycling Team continues to bet on theworld elite of women’s road cyclingand starts his fifth season. He does it with a team made up of 12 cyclists4 of them Catalan, and a total of 37 races from February to Septembersome of the UCI WorldTour calendar, the highest category in world cycling, such as the Tour of Burgos, the Tour of Flanders, Itzulia and the Tour of Romandiaothers.

In this line, the will of the Torroella de Montgrí team is to achieve the one hundred percent professionalization; consolidate both in Spain and in Europe, competing at the highest level; and continue to cultivate the seed ofwomen’s empowerment in women’s cycling.

In addition, as a novelty, this year 2023 the Massi-Tactic presents its subsidiary, the Massi-Tactic Academycreated with the intention of enhancing the training of local talent so that they can become professionals in the world of cycling.

The first women’s team of the Baix Ter Cycling Club continues to be led by Manel Gonzalo and Ángel González and, with nine signings, it has runners aged between 18 and 36, which allow them to combine youth and experienceat the same time mixing home profiles with international talent.

Three cyclists continue compared to last year: theCorinna Lechner from Germany, Aurela Nerlo from Poland and Miryam Núñez from Ecuador. At the same time, this 2023 course stands out, especially, for the return of professionals who had already had a link with the team in the past. These are Iris Gómez from Lleida36 years old, who comes from Bizkaia Durango; Patri Ortega, with successes in his previous stage – he was third, for example, in the last stage of the Tour of the Czech Republic, with good performances in the elite Spanish Cup and in the CRI Catalunya championship -; i Elisabet Escursell from Valaiswho leaves behind his time in Italian cycling.

The youngest runner is the Catalan Estefania Jiménez, only 18 years old, regular at the call-ups of the Catalan national team and participating in international races, such as the Tour of Portugal. It also adds the Canadian Adèle Normandwho came fourth in the last Alpes Grésivaudan Classic, and theHungarian Petra Zsankómaking his continental team debut after breaking into the world of road cycling in 2021.

New arrival in a continental set is also la francesa Cécile Lejeune, who just finished 14th in his country’s last national championships and was 15th in the Mont Ventoux Dénivelé Challenge. Other names are de Colombian Jennifer Ducuara, 27 years old, who came to lead the last Vuelta a Burgos, in addition to finishing in the top ten at the 2022 Eibar Grand Prix; or that of the Portuguese Vera Vilaçawinner of her country’s Cup in 2021 and who has come third in the most recent edition of the Tour of Portugal.

Once the pieces of the team and the objectives of the course have been presented, in an event at the Museu d’Arquelogia de Catalunya – Empúries, with the presence of the general secretary of Sport and Physical Activity, Anna Caulaamong other personalities, the season as a continental team will start on February 5 in Valencia (Back to the Valencian Community).
