Yuliana Bolivar and Juan Postigos qualify for a World Masters for the first time

The Peruvian Sports Federation of Judo reported that Postigos, category -66 kg. is ranked 33rd in the world ranking, and Yuliana Bolívar, category +78 kg. in position 36. Thanks to these positions worldwide, they were able to get their pass to participate in this relevant event.

The “World Masters” series of the International Judo Federationis one of the most important competitions in this sport, after the Olympic Games. That is why only the 36 best athletes located in the world ranking get their participation.

For our country, it is the first time in history that the classification of two athletes worldwide has been obtained, the federation indicated through its social networks. “It is the first time in the history of Peruvian judo that two of our athletes are invited to participate,” they commented.

The national judoka has denounced during the year through various media and social networks the lack of economic support by not having sponsors in his sporting path. Despite this, Postigos has continued to reap victories. This is how he was able to get his participation in the World Masters, since in the Tokyo Grand Slam 2022the last tournament in which he competed, he managed to beat the Slovakian Matej Poliak in the first round and was able to add points for the world ranking.

Since 2010, in the Pan American Judo Championship In the -60 Kg category, it has won medals such as bronze in El Salvador, Mexico in 2011 and Cuba in 2016. In the -66kg category, in 2017 and 2021 it also won third place. In 2019 and 2022, in Lima she reached second place on the podium.

However, the happiness of her victory was short-lived, as she ended the tournament with a serious injury that would require surgery and would put her out of competition for several months.

In October, through his social networks, she reappeared commenting that she had already been operated on and that she was recovering. “I will do what is necessary to once again represent my beloved Peru, stronger, more determined, more complete,” she published.

A few days ago, the Peruvian judoka published again that she is still recovering, but she is already training, so her participation in Israel is uncertain.
