On Saturday December 3, the Gironde champions in the under-13 category were honored for an award ceremony in Bordeaux
In the large hall of the Gironde building in Bordeaux, voices resound against a background of music while Léo, the mascot of the UBB, strolls. Saturday December 3, the best sportsmen of Gironde in the category less than 13 years old were honoured.
From tennis to adapted sports, including archery and athletics, 32 disciplines were represented. “It is important to have moments of recognition,” said Jean-Luc Gleyze, president of the Gironde Departmental Council. He recalled that the Department devoted 6 million euros each year to the sports world.
Celebrate community sport
“Through the prism of the young champions and champions of Gironde, we also want to highlight the action of the clubs”, explained Vincent Pouget, head of the office for monitoring sports practices in the Department. Each young athlete received a sports bag and a ticket for the UBB-Brive match, as part of the scheme “Young people at the stadium”. Saturday evening, parents, coaches and young athletes were able to celebrate the victory of Bordeaux-Bègles at the Chaban-Delmas stadium.
