World Cup 2022: millimeter drama about DFB-Aus! This scene is reminiscent of Wembley | Sports

56 years, four months and one day have passed…

Now a similarly bitter drama! As in 1966 at WM-final against England at Wembley Stadium, there is another contentious decision and again Germany is left behind in the end.

Morata makes it 1-0 for Spain. But then everything breaks. Doan equalizes for Japan (48′). The shaking starts. And then the millimeter decision!

off or not? All of Germany is talking about THIS Japan goal!

Tanaka puts the Asians in the lead (54th). It’s going to be really dramatic. This goal is checked for three minutes because the ball could have been out of bounds beforehand.

BALL OUT?

On TV it looks as if the game machine is completely behind the goal line. It may only have been a few millimeters that the ball is still in there. The goal for Japan counts. Like England’s Wembley goal in the 1966 final.

At that time, the German national team lost 2:4 (aet). The goal is still one of the biggest scandals in football history.

In the 101st minute, England’s Geoff Hurst defeated Germany keeper Hans Tilkowski. The shot bounces off the bottom edge of the bar and is then headed over the goal by central defender Weber.

The Swiss referee Gottfried Dienst first decides on a corner kick and only after consulting the Soviet linesman on a goal. Communication is in English, although Bəhramov speaks only Azerbaijani and Russian.

Afterwards it is clear: The hit should never have counted!

Just like the Japan goal against Spain?

World Cup 2022: Referee expert on drama scene – “Need proof”

Referee expert Patrick Ittrich (43) explains on MagentaTV: “The referee looked at the assistant. They had brief communication contact. The assistant probably wasn’t sure either. Then the flag came up, then it was checked. Then the goal was given later, the verification process took a very long time until the goal was given. Would you have given it right away if the assistant had left the flag down?”

Ittrich continues: “That’s why we need visual proof. You have that because of the goal line camera. There are various other cameras in the stadiums to check that. Apparently they found this pictorial evidence that the ball wasn’t out of bounds.”
