Workshops, courses and activities in shops and schools. The GINS Project to fight educational poverty – ekuonews.it

Teramo. The activities of GINS continue, Young protagonists: Identity, Networking and Support Services, a project selected by Con i Bambini as part of the Fund for the fight against child educational poverty, and which is led by the ITACA Association for local development , with numerous social and institutional partners. A three-year initiative aimed at young people in Teramo to fight educational poverty. The project includes four lines of intervention. The first is called ‘Territorial identity shops’, with four shops for territorial identity as accessible and creative spaces, equipped with equipment, technologies and support services for various workshops and school support activities for 14 to 17 year olds. The second provides for ‘Psychosocial Support’ within four schools in the area in order to integrate and enhance psycho-social support services for parents and minors with workshops on the demand for meaning, learning and guidance, with the listening desk and with educational interventions aimed at parents and teachers. The third line of intervention is ‘Open Schools’, with summer camps during which children will be able to follow music workshops, play sports even in the presence of testimonials, (as happened with Stefano Maniscalco multiple karate world champion and Emanuele Bruno European Judo vice-champion ) with the opening of the school facilities involved in extra-curricular hours as a permanent territorial garrison to combat school dropout and educational poverty, spaces in which to carry out sports and music workshops. The fourth line of intervention is ‘Educating community’, with the aim of re-activating the educating community, through the organization of information meetings, parent training workshops, animation activities, and through the experimentation of community skills with experiential laboratories of bioenergetics and mindfulness, and parent training, with entertainment activities for adolescents and families and the experimentation of the community dowry which consists of a voucher to be assigned to families in need to encourage their participation in cultural, training and and for the purchase of services useful for the growth and training of adolescents.

Among the initiatives underway in the schools involved (Saffo High School in Roseto degli Abruzzi, Milli High School in Teramo, Crocetti Cerulli Institute in Giulianova and Grue High School in Castelli) there are sports campuses organized by ASD Valle Del Vomano and the CSI of Teramo; a listening desk and orientation and learning workshops organized by the Futura Consortium Cooperative, as well as classroom workshops with personal and professional orientation courses for teachers organized by the Studenti&Futuro Social Promotion Association. For 2023 there are many activities planned in these schools, in particular ensemble music courses by the Contemporary Orchestra Association; courses to strengthen parenting skills, team working and team building training courses between teachers and local social services organized by Studenti&Futuro.

Many activities have been launched in the workshops of Teramo, Roseto degli Abruzzi, Martinsicuro and Cellino Attanasio, including music courses by the Associazione Orchestra Contemporanea; scholastic support provided by the Il Meglio di Te Association; the workshop ‘Learn art and put it aside’ by the Genius Loci Association and the cultural communication workshop ‘Tell me about your territory’ by the VIRATE Cooperative. In 2023 the workshop ‘Digital cultural heritage in Abruzzo’ by Wikimedia and the Parent training, bioenergetics and mindfulness workshops by the Cooperativa Consorzio Futura will start in the shops. The project is? been selected by ‘Con i Bambini’ as part of the Fund for the fight against child educational poverty. The Fund was born from an agreement between the foundations of banking origin represented by Acri, the National Forum of the Third Sector and the Government. It supports interventions aimed at removing the economic, social and cultural obstacles that prevent the full use of educational processes by minors.
