WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL SERIES A1 – Il Bisonte receives Casalmaggiore

Paul Caselli

Second consecutive home game for Il Bisonte Firenze, which after last Sunday’s success against Perugia is ready to host Trasporti Pesanti Casalmaggiore at Palazzo Wanny, back from two consecutive victories: it will be played tomorrow at 5 pm, and it will probably be a decisive match for the qualification for the quarterfinals of the Italian Cup, given that the bisontine are seventh with 14 points, while the squads are ninth, one point behind, but with one game less. A success could therefore consolidate the placement among the top eight for coach Bellano’s team, which will present itself to the full appointment.

EX AND PREVIOUS – The ex of the meeting are four. Two currently play in Florence: Carlotta Cambi, who won the Supercoppa Italiana and Champions League with Casalmaggiore in 2015/16, and Dayana Kosareva, who wore the pink jersey in the A1 series 2020/21. On the other hand, however, there are Elena Perinelli, who played in Florence in the 2015/16 season in A1, and Laura Melandri, bisontina in the A1 2016/17 series. The precedents between the two teams are twenty-two, with Il Bisonte having won seven times (of which four in the last five matches played), against fifteen defeats.

MASSIMO BELLANO’S WORDS – “Casalmaggiore is an excellent level opponent because they have a good mix between young and expert players and a fast game that is different from that of the teams we have faced lately, with the possible exception of Conegliano: they defend a lot and they are very fierce, plus Dimitrova’s recovery makes the match even more complicated, because he is an important pawn for them and one more element we will have to pay attention to in order to take the match in the direction we want. As far as we’re concerned, there’s a little tiredness but also a great desire to do well at home in front of our fans: we’re very concentrated and we want to close this cycle of eleven very demanding and close matches in the best possible way, because then we’ll have two weeks of break and then a more regular second part of the season will begin, with rhythms that will allow us to prepare in the best possible way, race by race”.

THE OPPONENTS – The Trasporti Pesanti Casalmaggiore coach Andrea Pistola should line up with the American Lauren Carlini (born in 1995) in the dribble, the Bulgarian Emiliya Dimitrova (1991) in the opposite position, the Dutch Juliët Lohuis (1996) and Laura Melandri (1995) in the center, Elena Perinelli (1995) and the American Alexandra Frantti (1996) in band and Chiara De Bortoli (1997) in the role of libero.
