Why was Lionel Messi so angry at Louis van Gaal? These statements went down the wrong way with the Argentines (and Orange knew that)

Sixteen years after the ‘Shame of Nürnberg’ with leading roles for a then young Cristiano Ronaldo and Khalid Boulahrouz, the Orange was again involved in a battle on the World Cup stage, which has been disgraced throughout the football world. The incident-rich quarter-final between the Netherlands and Argentina with a record number of nineteen yellow cards (once red for Denzel Dumfries) was commented on worldwide, with a lot of attention in particular for the unsportsmanlike way in which the Argentines cheered after Lautaro Martinez scored the decisive penalty in the penalty shoot-out. A beautiful photo shows how most Argentinian players mock the defeated Orange players in their faces when they run away cheering.
