Ryu is the emblematic fighter belonging to the video game saga Street Fighter. He has appeared since the first installment of the title in 1987 as one of the central protagonists of the series. Thus, by the hand of his partner Ken, he is part of all editions of the franchise, which is why he is the favorite fighter of many fans since the days of arcade machines.
His Ansatsuken martial art mixes various elements of karate and judo. In this way, Ryu focuses his life on training to get stronger and thus overcome in combat.
He was an orphan, but Gouken, the master of Ansatsuken, made him his pupil almost to the level of seeing him as his own son. However, his life continues to change when he meets Ken Masters, who becomes his training partner and, before long, they forge a near-brotherly relationship.
Over the years, both pupils grow under the art of Ansatsuken. In that, one day the demon known as Akuma challenges Gouken, but he loses and vows to take revenge one day. Later, upon reaching the age of 23, Ryu and Ken are ready to see the world, so the former participates in the World Warrior tournament and the son of the Masters family returns to the United States to champion in national competitions.
Among Ryu’s iconic techniques, the “Hadoken”, which is a blow that concentrates energy in his hands and expels it with force. With the passing of the versions, the movement is called “Bakurestsu”. The attack quickly became popular in the days of arcade machinessince each time the players made the combination, the fighter shouted simultaneously and for many it remained a memorable phrase, although the power is not exclusive.
