“We are very low, we have to win anyway”

Alimerka Oviedo Baloncesto breathes a little calmer after the triumphant comeback in Almansa, which meant the team’s third victory in the last four games. However, that has not changed the perspective of the coach of the blue team, Trifón Poch, who in the preview of today’s game against Ourense (Pumarin, 6:00 p.m.) maintains the speech. “We are very low, with many more defeats than victories, and we have to win against whoever it is. The other teams also see us as an opportunity to win,” says the coach, eliminating any hint of euphoria against a team from Ourense tied with the OCB in the table.

What has improved in the Oviedo team, apart from the more relaxed atmosphere that victories give, is the pace of training, once all the troops have recovered. Poch confirms that it has been “a long and complete week, with rhythm and intensity, which is what we need right now. We want to continue growing in the training sessions and we hope to endorse that in the matches”.

The squad has been temporarily closed with the renewal of Peñarroya until the end of the season and with the signing of Clevon Brown, who the coach trusts will give “that point of athleticism that we have been looking for since the beginning of the season. Without being a pure five, yes, he can help us in that position due to his physical characteristics. We hope that little by little he will gain pace to play four and generate the objective that we pursued from the beginning, versatile players”.

Regarding Ourense, Poch warns of their shooters and their ability to rebound in attack: “If we are not solid in rebounding, which is costing us, the game is going to be very different.”
