That worked!

After the dismissal of Sven Mislintat (50), Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart hired Fabian Wohlgemuth (43) as the new sports director.

Wohlgemuth, who was Managing Director Sport in Paderborn for two years, will receive a contract until 2025.

Stuttgart’s CEO Alexander Wehrle: “With the new appointment to the position of sports director, we want to set both a new impetus and a sign of continuity on our way.”

For Wohlgemuth, the new task will also be the first job in Germany’s top football class. As head of the youth department at VfL Wolfsburg, the new Stuttgart sports director moved to Holstein Kiel before moving from Paderborn to the Swabians.

BILD reported on Friday that the Deal with Wohlgemuth is nearing completion. Now the thing is done!

Return of the DFB team Our frustration plane back in Germany

After Mislintat’s end at the beginning of the week, the VfB supervisory boards set the course for a quick replacement on Thursday evening: they unanimously approved a financial expansion of the budget framework decided in the summer.

Sven Mislintat came to VfB from Arsenal FC in April 2019, signed Matarazzo and made it back to the Bundesliga with him in 2020. After a good season, however, he did not manage to develop VfB beyond the status of a relegation candidate.

One of the first official acts of the new sports director will almost certainly be the commitment of Bruno Labbadia (56) as the new coach.

Labbadia coached VfB from 2010 to 2013. According to BILD information, Bernhard Trares (57) should become his assistant coach. The two know each other very well. They already played together in youth selection teams, later they played together at Darmstadt 98, at KSC and at Werder Bremen.

In 2015 Labbadia brought his youth buddy to the coaching team at HSV. Most recently, Trares was head coach in Würzburg. He has been without a club since April 2021.
