Two pairs of sneakers worn in 1985 by Michael Jordan raised this Thursday almost 300 thousand dollars in a Internet auction held by Christie’s.
The star lot of this sale of items focused on sports collectors was a pair of Air Jordan 1, the first tennis model created by Nike for the NBA starwhich Jordan himself wore on court and sold for $189,000 (including buyer’s premium).
Despite the high number, there was only one bid and the lot was placed below the range estimated by Christie’s, which was between $200,000 and $300,000.

Another pair of 1985 Air Jordan 1s, in this case signed and likely worn by Jordan, sold for $107,100.
Sales were far from the record amounts paid in recent years for other shoes by the basketball legend: in 2020 Air Jordan 1S raised $560,000 and in 2021 Nike Air Ships worn by Jordan in 1984 reached nearly $1.5 million of dollars.
