Tiburones swept Braves in doubleheader

The pitching of Tiburones de La Guaira grew this Tuesday at the Forum and painted the Margarita Braves white for 14 innings to sweep the doubleheader.

In the first of the day, Los Salados only needed an unstoppable Ronald Acuña Jr. and another from Danry Vásquez to win 2-0.

Junior Guerra started and hung up two shutouts before giving way to Jonathan Petit (2-0), who ultimately came away with the win after a solid 3.0 innings of relief.

Gregory Infante and Sam Bordner combined to complete the shutout for the hold and the save, respectively. For his part, Dimitri Kourtis (0-1) took the loss by allowing a run in two and two-thirds innings.

In the second hour, Tiburones was more aggressive and won 6-0.

Los Salados combined hits from Angel Aguilar and Carlos Sánchez with a fly ball from Leobaldo Cabrera to create four runs in the second inning.

Three innings later, Ronald Acuña Jr. made it clear to Kender Villegas and sealed it with his second home run of the season.

Finally, Anthony Escobar (1-1) was left with the victory after an almost perfect relief of two innings and two thirds, with which he improved his ERA to 3.00.

Jesús Castillo, meanwhile, took the loss by allowing four runs in 2.0 innings.

With these two victories, the Sharks improved their record to 19-11 and forced a three-way tie in the first place in the table with Lions and Cardinals. Braves, for their part, dropped their record to 12-19 and are now tied for sixth with Caribes and Tigres.
