The Warriors prepare the return of James Wiseman

The Warriors’ poor start to the season found its main scapegoat in James Wiseman. It was the young center who had to take the blame for a defense that didn’t work and a second unit that was swept night after night. His performance, on the other hand, was not enough to scare away ghosts. For this reason, Golden State decided that it would be a good idea to re-enroll him in the discipline of the Santa Cruz Warriors. Three weeks later and 12 first-team games through, it seems that the time to see him again in the NBA is drawing near. “He has trained very well and we will see his situation in the next few days”, stated Kerr in the preview of the game against Indiana.

The entire staff of the Santa Cruz subsidiary participated in the session commented on by the coach. Wiseman has been doing great numbers in the G League, showing that he is above the competition while waiting to justify his membership in the NBA. In his last game, the center had 24 points and 13 rebounds in 27 minutes. Numbers that clash with the reality experienced in his participation with Golden State in the few eleven games that he has played with them this season. There his averages drop to 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in just under 14 minutes. Although the most worrying thing was the sensations that he left wandering the track.

Fortunately, and as Jordan Poole advised, Wiseman has not taken any of this as an act of smear. But as an opportunity to continue getting closer to the player he wants to be. It is worth remembering that, for one reason or another, the young man has chained three years in which he has barely played 50 games between the NCAA, NBA and G League. Kerr hasn’t given any clues as to when he might return, but he should be around soon.
