The government of lara mendez announced that the process to hire the drafting of the project for the future sports center of the city will begin shortly, which will be in the Vega Grande Streetin front of the shopping center The Spa. The work will be tendered with a maximum budget of 80,000 euros and an execution period that may not exceed four months.
The Council has long had a preliminary project for the building that is characterized by the use of techniques and materials that respect the environment, such as wood, and with criteria of energy efficiency.
The pavilion will have a multifunctional center court which will be able to host futsal, basketball (two courts), handball, minibasket (four courts), volleyball (four courts), badminton (four courts), rhythmic gymnastics and other indoor sports. There will also be a social space, a reception area, four changing rooms, warehouses and offices.
This new sports facility was budgeted at around three million euros, but it is estimated that it will be 40% more expensive, up to 4,233,306 euros. There is a co-financing commitment from the State Government and the Xunta.
“This initiative was born with the desire to accompany the development of the program Life Lugo+Biodynamic, because the infrastructure will be located in the surroundings of the new multi-ecological neighborhood of garaballa and will be built following the criteria of sustainability and energy saving pursued by this program and which characterize the design of the green cities of the future in the fight against climate change,” the mayor emphasized.
