More than 400 boys and girls from 6 to 16 years old will participate in the Judo Christmas Trophy that will be held next Saturday from 10:00 a.m., in the Chana Sports Complex pavilion, where six tatami mats will be installed for the development of competition. Public admission to the facility will be free.

The Granada clubs have already confirmed their presence: Almuñécar, Baransu, Club Deportivo CL, Dodo Padul, Huéscar, Judo Atarfe, Judo Las Gabias, Judo Ogíjares and Tomoe. In addition, clubs from Almería, Córdoba, Jaén and Málaga will participate.

José Antonio Huertas, Councilor for Sports of the Granada City Council, commented during the presentation of the tournament that they support this initiative “because it is a basic sport and because it encourages healthy lifestyle habits. In addition, the presence of judokas from other provinces will contribute to the revitalization of the city’s economy. But perhaps the most important thing is that the practice of judo reinforces values ​​such as self-esteem, discipline and the ability to improve in boys and girls.

Juan Bonitch, vice president of the Andalusian Judo Federation, stressed that judo is “an educational sport.”

The Judo Christmas Tournament this Saturday will begin at 10:00 am with the juvenile and youngest competition. At 12:00 the youngest and youngest categories will start for the cadet competition to start at 1:00 p.m. The tournament is expected to end at 2:30 p.m.
