The great year of the South American Champion

Karim Adarvez, athlete of the Argentine Judo Team, currently an athlete of the Boca Juniors Athletic Club and member of the High Performance staff of the San Juan State Department of Sports, ended his year at the top.

After his recovery from the severe injury he suffered while competing, the torn ligament and dislocation of his left elbow, he began a very positive new year, in the anteroom he had to spend 5 and a half months of hard work in his rehabilitation, becoming very extensive, the great moment of competing arrived. During the month of May, he managed to achieve a podium in the Argentine Opening Championship, taking 3rd place. This championship was carried out in the province of Córdoba.

Quickly, Karim managed to win the Colón International Championship, played in the province of Entre Ríos, being a very important binational tournament that has been taking place. Once that competition was over, he was scheduled for a South American tour in which he had to move up a category due to low back pain; however, he managed to gain experience in the Par-American Open in Lima and in the Bogotá Open.

Karim continued with different tournaments, one of them was the Central Republic Championship, where he managed to make a podium, said tournament was part of the Argentine circuit. To culminate, in the month of November he participated in the Senior South American Championship, held in Córdoba where he became champion. Regarding this South American, the champion told us the following:

“I was lucky to win it, to be able to make a breakthrough, a great performance in each fight, giving me the chance to reach the final and win that final with height.”

After consecrating himself champion, Karim competed again two days later, on that occasion it was at the Pan-American Open in Argentina, in Córdoba, where he narrowly lost the bronze medal.

Undoubtedly, it was an incredible year for the athlete from San Juan, being very rich in sports results and giving San Juan, for the first time, the title of South American Champion. In addition, he was ranked in the world, aiming for the Paris 2024 Games, on the side of the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, he was ranked No. 24.
