Three-time world champion Pelé has been undergoing treatment for colon cancer since last September and has been hospitalized since November 29. On Wednesday, treating doctors announced that Pelé’s condition had significantly worsened. Along with the advancing cancer, they were also diagnosed with heart and kidney dysfunction and had to start treatment for airway inflammation. However, Pele stayed in a regular room. Pelé is missing from the published joint photo of family members, including his current wife Marcia, but on Saturday night Kely shared a picture of her lying with her father in a hospital bed. “Here we go. In fight and in faith. One more night together,” she wrote.
Edinho, a former goalkeeper and now coach, had not originally planned to visit his father. He said at the press conference that the only ones who can help his father are doctors, the AP agency wrote.
