The Leones del Caracas and the Navegantes del Magallanes met at the José Bernardo Pérez Stadium in Valencia for a new Venezuelan baseball classic. With a team from the capital that is chasing the lead against Cardenales de Lara and the Turks are fighting to be among the top five positions in the standings.

Edwin García dressed as a hero when he hit the ball that gave victory to Navegantes del Magallanes over Leones del Caracas in an unusual game that began yesterday Friday and ended during the early hours of this Saturday.

For the Turks, Alberth Martínez was shaping up to become the great figure of the commitment, after hitting a couple of home runs and pushing, until the eighth inning, six runs. But Leones went on a seven-run rally in the ninth inning to turn the score around. The great league Gleyber Torres, who was the first out of the inning, hit a powerful double through the left field to consummate the capital comeback.

In a more than controversial decision, the manager of Magallanes, Puerto Rican Yadier Molina, decided to remove Bruce Rondón, Magallanes closer, with two outs in the hypothetical last inning and placed Henderson Álvarez, who has been punished throughout the season, who was hit by the New York Yankees waiter.

But the Turkish ship did not give up and managed to equalize the actions through a productive single by Martínez, who, thanks to his seven RBIs in this challenge, became the RBI leader of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

Already in extra inning, Oswaldo Arcia appealed to his power to put the capital team ahead again. Magallanes responded once more and tied again thanks to a home run by Romer Cuadrado.

To put an end to the marathon and changeable game, Edwin García hit a double so that Rayder Ascanio scored the winning run, Kevin Castro took the victory and Ricardo Rodríguez the defeat in a duel of multiple emotions.

With this result, Magallanes, who remains in the core of the classification table, placed his mark at 17-19 and Leones, who remains on the hunt for Cardenales de Lara, now has a record of 20-13.

Zulia Eagles 12, Aragua Tigers

Tigers of Aragua

At the José Pérez Colmenares de Maracay, there was a day of a lot of hitting and a lot of emotion, as a result of the victory of Tigres de Aragua 13-12 over Águilas del Zulia, in a match that was defined by small details and that in the end helped to extend to four the winning streak of the cats.

The Tigers remain one of the hottest teams in the LVBP, winning eight of their last ten games, and with this victory they were only half a game behind the raptors, who are fifth in the standings.

In all innings at least one run was scored, except for the ninth, which went scoreless. In the first inning, the Bengals made five runs, but in the middle part of the second the visitors turned the scoreboard with six little lines. In the third they added another three annotations, while the locals discounted with one.

They reached the fourth inning with the game 9-6, but it wasn’t long before Tigres registered another pair of scores.

The Eagles for their part scored one in the fifth, sixth and eighth, but failed to maintain the lead by succumbing to the Aragueña bullying. Those led by Wilfredo Romero mounted a three-run rally in the seventh and finally in the eighth came a controversial play.

Dennis Ortega flied out to outfielder Niko Hulsizer, who after catching the ball fell on his back and allowed two runners to touch home plate, those being the little lines that would later seal the victory for Tigres.

The Tigers improved their record to 15-19, while the Raptors dropped to 16-19.

In Caracas and Puerto La Cruz postponed due to rain

Heavy rainfall was again the protagonist in the city of Caracas and forced the postponement of the clash between Bravos de Margarita and Tiburones de La Guaira due to incessant rain that fell on the Universitario.

The fifth match of the particular series between insulares and salty was scheduled to be played from 7 pm in the Los Chaguaramos arena, but the heavy downpour and the conditions of the playing field did not allow the aforementioned clash to take place.

The Venezuelan league must reschedule a new date for the dispute of this match in the rest of December.

The heavy rain that fell in Puerto La Cruz this Friday afternoon also jeopardized the start time of the match between Cardenales de Lara and Caribes de Anzoátegui. It was not until two and a half hours after the estimated start when it was announced that the match would be postponed, given that the field had been visibly affected to play baseball.
