the COST rewards the best athletes of the week of sports excellence

Marking the end of the sports year, declared by the Head of State in his speech in December 2021, during the youth forum, the Chadian Olympic and Sports Committee (COST), organized the week of sports excellence.

The honorary distinction ceremony, for the best athletes from this week of sporting excellence which was held from December 05 to 11, 2022 in N’Djamena, took place on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 in a hotel in the square.

A total of 843 participants in this week of sporting excellence: 605 athletes, 150 officials, 62 supervisors and 26 volunteers. The Chadian Olympic and Sports Committee (COST), an agency of the International Olympic Committee, wants to be an associative mission in a State which brings together national federations and sports associations, locates Bani Gâta Ngoulou, president of the organizing committee, moreover, vice-president of COST.

After a week of competition, the results are structured as follows: 8 champions in men’s and women’s versions, in the following disciplines, handball, basketball, volleyball and football. Then, 14 other champions in men’s and women’s versions in the disciplines, archery, taekwondo, judo, wrestling, boxing, pétanque and karate, informs the president of the organizing committee.

However, the President of COST, General Idriss Dokoni Adiker, took the opportunity to take stock of the year of sports and to reiterate the commitment of COST, alongside the government, for the development of Chadian sports. For Fatimé Boukar Kosseï, Secretary of State in charge of Sports, the organization of this event is a strong signal to appropriate objectivity, results and efficiency.

Fatimé Boukar notes that the department in charge of sports is the one-stop shop for supporting, engaging and supporting sports actions. The Secretary of State reassures the athletes for this purpose that the government will be at their side in order to accompany them in their journey, to restore the greatness of sport. “Our mission is to be able to ensure the development of Chadian sports,” she underlines.

Closing the sports year, the Transitional Prime Minister, representing the President of the Transition, reassured that Chadian sport will be boosted and pushed forward. “We are going to do everything, together, to ensure that reflection precedes action, so that tomorrow’s action will allow us to take precedence over all sports federations”, the Prime Minister’s wish.

Finally, the Head of the Government of National Union salutes the COST initiative and intends to support it and ensure that it is sustained. Thus, Saleh Kebzabo suggests that sport is a popular activity, which must be practiced by everyone, the young and the less young Chadian, so that Chad becomes a country of sports.

Sport is an essential vehicle for consolidating peace and living together. To this, it must be everyone’s business.
