The Asturian Football Federation presents the Liga+Asturfutbol

The Asturian Football Federation announced today the Liga+Asturfutbol, ​​a competition aimed at promoting football among people with different abilities. The initiative, which was born from the former Oviedo soccer player Pelayo Novo, has been promoted thanks to the support of the Federation and various associations and clubs that have become involved in the project. In principle, the tournament starts in an event format, waiting to find out how many teams want to participate, and the first game is expected to be played on Shrove Tuesday.

“Pelayo Novo gave us a pass into the hole,” joked Carlos García Conde, general secretary of the Federation. “We needed the support of the associations. We could put the infrastructure, but we needed people to support the project, and we have achieved it”, explains the president, who commented that from his organization they have a “strategic plan to encourage the participation of anyone who wants to play sports”, as described You can see it in the Liga+Asturfutbol and that it has a great goal. “We want to remove the surnames from football. Let it be neither women’s nor inclusive football, let it be football, ”he pointed out. “We cannot do more than promote these initiatives, we must never stop increasing participation. We have to have the platform so that everyone can play sports, regardless of their condition ”, he stated, something for which the creation of the Liga + Asturfutbol is key.

Aida Nuño, Director of Sports for the Principality of Asturias, thanked the Federation for its work in promoting this activity with such determination. “We all want to row together in the same direction. There are more and more events of this type. It is one of the great objectives of the new Sports Law ”, she highlighted, since this will favor people with different abilities“ to have the same opportunities to access sport ”. “I’m sure the Liga+AsturFutbol is going to be a success”, Nuño predicted with hope.
