Strong pain? Again big concerns about Marco Reus

Borussia Dortmund may have to compete in the winter training camp in Marbella, Spain, without Marco Reus. The BVB captain continues to struggle with his persistent ankle injury, which also cost him his participation in the World Cup in Qatar.

As “Bild” reports, Reus is still plagued by severe pain after exertion.

This year, which ends for the BVB professionals with the start of vacation on December 12th, the 33-year-old will probably no longer be able to train, it is said. The time of his recovery is open.

Reus will probably have to work extra shifts during the short winter break – things will continue in Dortmund on January 2nd. According to the report, his participation in the training camp in Marbella (January 6 to 14, 2023) is at risk.

Not used on BVB’s trip to Asia

Reus had already suffered his injury in mid-September in the 1-0 win in the Revierderby against FC Schalke 04.

Barely a month later he made his comeback against Union Berlin. After that, however, the offensive player only made one short appearance against VfL Bochum at the beginning of November and was subsequently ruled out again.

Reus also missed the World Cup in Qatar because of the injury.

Most recently, the captain was on a trip to Asia with his BVB. However, he did not appear there in terms of sport.

Marco Reus’ contract with BVB expires

In BVB’s three friendlies against the Lion City Sailors in Singapore (7:2), the Johor Southern Tigers in Malaysia (4:1) and the Vietnam national team (1:2), he wasn’t on the field for a single minute.

After returning to Dortmund a week ago, he also stayed away from team training.

Shortly before the start of the World Cup, Reus told “Bild-TV” about “complications” with his ankle injury. He “maybe started a little too early to get into the rhythm,” said the unlucky self-critically.

In the second half of the season, Reus is also concerned with his future at BVB. His contract expires next summer.
