Standard suffers a heavy defeat in Marbella against OGC Nice in a friendly

On Thursday afternoon, Standard de Liège lost 4-1 against OGC Nice in a friendly match in Marbella. Earlier in the day, the Rouches had already played a match which ended in a defeat against Girona, 1-0.

Currently training in Spain, Standard de Liège had planned two friendly matches on Thursday. The Rouches fielded two totally different teams in the two matches, notably offering playing time to several players from SL16 FC, the U23 team.

After a 1-0 defeat against Girona in the morning, the Liégeois suffered another setback against Nice, 4-1. Kephren Thuram opened the scoring in the first period (32nd) and Delort doubled Nice’s lead on the hour mark (60th). Dragus closed the gap with a header a few minutes later (70′) but Delort scored his second goal (74′) of the afternoon after a penalty saved by Bodart. Rosario sealed the final score with a final goal in favor of the Aiglons (80th).

The resumption will take place on December 23 for Standard, which will travel to La Gantoise as part of the 18th day of the Pro League.
