Standard flies to Turin this Thursday to face Juventus… and will be back thirty hours later!

It is this Thursday at the beginning of the afternoon that the technical staff and around twenty players from Standard will take off from Liège Bierset airport to reach Turin. It is there, in Piedmont, that they will face Juventus on Friday at 2.30 p.m. in a friendly match, not on a training ground as was originally planned but at the Allianz Stadium, the great Italian club having decided to respond to the request of some of its supporters to be able to open a stand in the enclosure to allow them to attend the last meeting of the year 2022 of their favorites.

It is, in terms of image and visibility, a great opportunity in question, unearthed by the sports director Fergal Harkin and confirmed late. In concrete terms, this prestigious trip will be spread over around thirty hours, since it is expected that the Rouches, who will not be staying from Thursday to Friday in a hotel but at the Juventus Training Center, the training center for the double winner of the Champions League, return to Liège directly after the match. A training match which, after those won against Arsenal (2-0) on December 17 and Rijeka (1-0) five days later, will be the third and last for Juventus before the resumption of the championship in Cremonese, next January 4.

We should also point out that unless there is a very improbable turnaround in the situation, the match will not be broadcast in Belgium, as no operator has expressed its interest in broadcasting a friendly match scheduled for December 30. As soon as they return to Belgium, the Standard players will benefit from two days off, Saturday and Sunday, before returning to training on Monday and preparing for the arrival of Saint-Trond on January 6.
