A 35-year-old woman was sentenced to 16 years in prison and expelled from Switzerland for 12 years after killing her husband, a well-known restaurateur from Interlaken, with a baseball bat.
The bloody incident took place on October 18, 2020, with the 61-year-old’s body found in a building in the city, battered with a blunt instrument. His wife, a former boxing champion of Brazilian origin, was arrested a few weeks later.
The prosecution had asked for an 18-and-a-half-year prison sentence for murder or possibly intentional homicide, and according to the judge there are no doubts about the woman’s guilt.
The defense had fought for the acquittal due to an incomplete investigation, in which from the outset we focused on the hypothesis of the young wife’s guilt.
