Several Corrientes had action | Daily Time

A new edition of the traditional First Division Interclub Championship, organized by the Argentine Tennis Association, began to be played with the Base Round, which is played with the local/visitor format and will classify two teams from each zone to the final key, that will take place at Tenis Club Argentino from December 6.

And in this 2022 there are several people from Corrientes who will be joining the list of different clubs; among them Leonardo Mayer (Tennis Club Argentinoa), Ignacio Monzón (Club Italiano), Lautaro Midón (Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club), Luciano Tacchi (Urquiza Tennis Club) and Valentín Velázquez (Club Harrods Gath and Chaves B).

In these first days, Lautaro Midón already had action playing the doubles match with Andrés Molteni, beating Leonardo Aboian and Estaban Djinbachian, from Darling Tennis Club, 6-2 and 6-1. It was a 3-0 victory for BALTC, adding the victories of Tomas Etcheverry and Nicolás Kicker in singles.

Likewise, Valentín Velázquez also played on several occasions in the first days of competition wearing the Club Harrods Gath and Chaves B shirt, who lost 0-3 with Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires (Velázquez lost a singles with Olivieri), fell 1- 2 with Ferro Carril Oeste and the same score for the defeat against Hebraica Argentina (in these last matches, the man from Corrientes played in doubles).

On the other hand, Ignacio Monzón was part of the Italian Club list but did not play. His team lost 1-2 to San Lorenzo de Almagro and 0-3 to Club Atlético Comercio.

The same thing happened with Luciano Tacchi from Bellavist, representative of Urquiza Tenis Club, who still had no playing time. UTC lost 0-3 with Gimnasia y Esgrima de Buenos Aires and 1-2 with Sociedad Hebraica Argentina.

Finally, Leonardo Mayer is part of the Argentine Tennis Club list, together with renowned tennis players such as Facundo Bagnis and Juan Ignacio Londero. But “Leo” did not play yet and on the initial dates his team beat Banco Provincia de Buenos Aires 3-0 and the same score against Estudiantil Porteño.

The zones of the competition of Gentlemen were conformed of the following way:

Zone A: Club Ferro Carril Oeste; Gymnastics and Fencing Club of Buenos Aires; Urquiza Tennis Club; Harrods, Gath and Chaves B; Argentine Hebrew Society.

Zone B: Argentine Club Tennis; Saint Ferdinand; Belgrano Club; Bank Province of Buenos Aires; Buenos Aires Student Athletic Club.

Zone C: Harrods, Gath and Chaves A; Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club; General San Martin A Railway; Darling Tennis Club; Lujan Tennis Club.

Zone D: San Lorenzo de Almagro Athletic Club; Club Atlético Comercio; Italian Club; General San Martin B Railway.

The Finals will be played again on a hard surface after the positive experiences of 2018 (San Lorenzo) and 2019 (Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club). In 2021, the final key was played on the clay of GEBA. Each series will be played to the best of three matches (two singles and one doubles), and always in matches to the best of three sets.

Among the women, the last champion is River, who managed to end a streak of four consecutive titles in San Lorenzo. The most winners are Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club (30) and Tenis Club Argentino (11). In men’s, Tenis Club Argentino, host of the next edition, is the reigning champion. The BALTC is also the clear dominator in terms of number of titles, with 42 wins.

Ciudad Vóley won again and continues as leader

Ciudad Vóley, the team led by Hernán Ferraro and in which Facundo Conte plays, defeated Police de Formosa 3-1 and continues as the leader and undefeated in the Argentine Volleyball League (LVA).

In the field of Once Unidos in Mar del Plata, venue of the third Tour of the League, Ciudad won with scores of 22-25, 29-27, 25-21 and 25-23 in the first match of the day.

In the second game, Paracao de Entre Ríos beat River 3-0 (25-23, 25-18 and 25-22).

The local Once Unidos will face Obras de San Juan from 20; while at 10 p.m., Defensores de Banfield will face Amuvoca from El Calafate. All with transmission of TyC Play.

Today at 11:00, UPCN San Juan (current two-time champion of the tournament) will play against Monteros and the rest of the games on Sunday will be: Paracao-UVT (at 1:00 p.m.); Police-River (at 15); City-Obras (at 18) and Once Unidos-San Lorenzo (at 20).

After the stages in Buenos Aires (based in the Ciudad club) and San Juan (in the UPCN field), the Men’s League will continue with the Tour in Mar del Plata until tomorrow and then there will be a break until January 10, 2023, when it resumes with the fourth Tour in Paraná.
