The Real Sociedad athlete, who was looking to revalidate his double victory last year in Gijón and Oviedo, has only been able to win in Gijón. In his second race of the day, the rider was 20 seconds away from repeating the feat. The first to cross the finish line on Calle Argüelles was Jaime Bueno, from the University of Oviedo.

The first of the big ones to be disputed was the San Silvestre de gijon. In it, Moha Bakkali (Real Sociedad) and Isabel Barreiro (Valencia Athletics) managed to win in a test that exceeded 7,000 participants, thus returning to figures prior to the pandemic. Bakkali, who completed the six kilometers of the route in 18.24 minutes, signed his fourth victory in this test and after him Ciro Canseco (Fisio&Fisio) who entered 29 seconds behind the winner and Ibarhim Morala (Gijón Athletics) four seconds after the second classified. . Much more forceful was the victory of Isabel Barreiro, who not only prevailed with authority among the women, but also finished in eighth position in the general classification with a time of 19:26 minutes, almost two less than the second classified, Maria Piñera, with Laura González in third position.

In Oviedo, the last of the greats to start, the winners were Jaime Bueno (University of Oviedo) and Mariam Benkert (Gijón Athletics). The university athlete finished the test in 16.51 minutes, twenty seconds ahead of Moha Bakkali and thirty seconds ahead of Rubén Marqués (University of Oviedo). Benkert’s victory was tighter, with a time of 19.47, with Paula González (Bilbao Athletics) ten seconds behind her. Nela Lois (University of Oviedo) finished third.

Among the thousands of runners was Diego Canga, who participated in the race accompanied by his son-in-law Phil Downs. The PP candidate wore a shirt with the flag of the European Union, while the husband of his daughter was dressed in the colors of Real Oviedo.

In tineoAlex Muneke and Olaya Pérez were the first to cover the 5 kilometer route and cross the finish line, located in the Town Hall square. Behind them, Manu Berguño and David Cañedo and Natalia Leelond and Ana Belén Menéndez completed the men’s podium.

In Cangas del Narcea the winners were Óscar Bujan (Compostela Athletics) and Lorena Aumente. In a race that had almost 300 athletes, the youngest participant was Lola Fernández, who at three months old did not want to miss the test. At the other extreme is Manuel Santiago, who participated at the age of 69. Adrián González (Club Tenis Narcea) and Paula Gómez (Club Baloncesto Cangas del Narcea) finished second, while Álvaro Collar (AD Moal) and Lucía González (Pichón Trial) finished third.

Gerardo Casas, from Llaner, took victory in the San Silvestre de llanera, signing a time of 12.28. Behind him finished Héctor Gorría and Omar Sierra. On the women’s side, the winner was Itziar Méndez, ahead of Naroa Gorría and Laura Casero. This test has the peculiarity that it has a version in madreñas, in which Iñigo Méndez was the fastest of the 22 participants.

Some 120 runners participated this morning in the solidarity San Silvestre of sobrescobio, whose collection goes to the University Institute of Oncology of the Principality of Asturias (IUOPA). Starting and finishing in the town hall square, the route, of about two kilometres, was carried out through the streets of Rioseco. Good humor and a good atmosphere to say goodbye to the year doing sports.

In candás, where San Silvestre is a cyclist and does not have classifications, the atmosphere could not be better. Officially there were 600 registered, although many more were incorporated throughout the circuit. At the end, there was a raffle for sports equipment, Christmas lots, a ham and a bicycle.
