Regional Amateur: Belgrano beat Ben Hur in the first leg of the quarterfinals

Belgrano de Paraná defeated Ben Hur 1-0 in the first leg, South Coast Region quarterfinals, of the Regional Amateur Tournament. In a tough game and on a hot day, Mondonguero took advantage through a penalty goal by Nicolás Ledesma. The rematch will be on Saturday or Sunday (according to the result of the National Team next Tuesday).

FIRST TIME

He took the reins of the Ben Hur game from the start, but Belgrano settled in as the minutes went by. Chances of both flourished, but Mondonguero became strong, like the two games against Gimnasia de Ciudadela in the previous phase, through the penalty kick. At 33′ Matías Arce leaked from the left and received a clear foul. Nicolás Ledesma executed and again showed his effectiveness. Ben Hur at some point was able to take the lead with a shot from Sola and at others reached the tie with Jara’s header or López from a free kick.

However, Schomberger showed reflexes and avoided the bow drop. Then, at the end of the initial stage, Mondonguero had two chances through Ledesma and a shot from Yancovich that could be rejected on the same line of the goal. There were 45 minutes left to defend or increase the advantage, against a tough opponent.

SECOND TIME
The figure of the goalkeeper Schomberger avoided the fall of his fence on a couple of occasions. The Rafaelinos sought from the beginning of the final stage to equalize the match, but the goalkeeper was key to maintaining zero.

The local had spaces to counterattack but could not be effective. On both sides, the coaches sought to prioritize their schemes in order to meet the objective. With ten minutes of discount to play, Waldner’s team had a shot from Bettini and another from Moratto that hit the post. The changes refreshed the game and thus Belgrano was able to close the first leg in his favor.
