Polish referee for Argentina – Australia

SZYMON MARCINIAK He was appointed to direct the game that Argentina will play on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. against Australia for the round of 16 of the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

The 41-year-old Polish referee will be accompanied by his compatriots Pawel Sokolnicki and Tomasz Listkiewicz, while the 4th will be Mario Escobar, from Guatemala.

A FIFA referee since 2011, Marciniak has a long history in the main European soccer competitions and is participating in his second World Cup.

He made his debut in the Polish first division in 2009 and before being a judge he played for Wisla Plock, but he switched to refereeing after being sent off.

On that occasion, he argued with the match judge, who challenged him to do the job himself, his brother is also a referee and controlled first and second division matches in Poland.

It will be the second time that Marciniak directs the Argentine National Team in a World Cup. In 2018 he was in charge of the 1-1 draw against Iceland in the debut, where Lionel Messi missed a penalty.

In this edition of the World Cup, he took part in the 2-1 victory of France against Denmark on date 2 of Group D.
