Pachuca’s plans in Oviedo, uncovered: from the sports city to the accesses

It gives the impression that the Pachuca Group is already adapted to Oviedo. That managers already know the differences between Mexican and European soccer. An example: Álvaro Cervera was an emergency solution due to the sports crisis, with the team in decline. Upon his arrival, Oviedo’s ownership was clear that he was not a “Pachuca-style” coach, who preaches offensive football, but that he could serve to get the team afloat. A momentary lifesaver. Two months later, from Pachuca everything is praise for the work of Cervera, whom they already see as a coach for the future. The opinion of the Oviedo board of directors on current affairs, such as the coach, came to light yesterday at the informative breakfast of Jesús Martínez, maximum shareholder; Martín Peláez, president and Agustín Lleida, general director. It was forty minutes in which Pachuca reviewed after four months at the club. These are his plans.

The sports city Jesús Martínez made it clear that Pachuca is very serious about building a sports city. The directive is looking at possible land, although in no case has a decision been made. Ideally, it should occupy at least 10 hectares. These days Martínez visited the lands adjacent to El Requexón, which used to be Cerámicas Guisasola. The impression was very good and Pachuca appreciates that it is close to El Requexón, hence it can communicate with the current sports city, which would be an extension. However, everything is in an embryonic phase and also in this area there are ships that enjoy protection to be Industrial Heritage. Pachuca is also clear that with the CVC funds it will not be enough to pay for the sports city and more investment will have to be made.

Improve the Tartiere. Pachuca has a comprehensive reform of the Oviedo stadium underway. Yesterday Jesús Martínez had a meeting with the company MolcaWorld, which is in charge of carrying out an improvement project. The club plans to go little by little and not make a reform at once. At the moment, there will be new video scoreboards. The objective is to bring the Tartiere to life so that it is not enjoyed only on match days. Pachuca believes that work is needed in the stadium, but the truth is that they take the new Tartiere into good consideration.

The accesses. For that, there seems to be a date. Jesús Martínez hopes that in 2023 the eternal problem of access can be solved. Oviedo knows that because of this the team loses assistants on match days. The club is in the hands of the City Council to carry out these works, but both parties seem to be rowing in the same direction. Jesús Martínez and Alfredo Canteli talked about access in their first meeting.

Martínez has a direct line with several footballers. Jesús Martínez leaves his leaders autonomy, but he is up to date with the small details. According to him he said, he often talks with various footballers from the squad.

Value to the approaches of Álvaro Cervera. Cervera’s work with the team was highlighted yesterday by the blue board. He praised his approach to Las Palmas and his sincerity in his speeches.

The quarry. Pachuca wants Oviedo to be a youth club. Yesterday it became clear that Jesús Martínez wants to bet, at least on paper, on home footballers, just like what happens at Pachuca or León. To take care of the quarry, the leaders assured, the facilities must be improved. Pachuca believes that the current ones are too small. In addition, the club looks at the forces that come from behind and assured that it is already working on the renewal of Yayo and Álex Cardero.

Relations with Sporting. Pachuca and Orlegi (owner of Sporting) will transfer their rivalry to the other side of the pond in the first derby of the season, which will be played at the Tartiere on December 17 at 9:00 p.m. Pachuca admits the rivalry with Sporting, but wants the game to be the party of Asturian football. There is an instruction: that the rivalry stay on the field. Outside, cordiality. In fact, for the first time since the reunion, a joint action between the two directives is expected at the request of the Asturian Football Federation. Oviedo assured yesterday that they were open to joining Sporting. Jesús Martínez, yes, he will not be able to attend the derby and will return to Mexico on Monday.
