Sports board member Markus Krösche (48) and board spokesman Axel Hellmann (51) had to laugh in disbelief at first.
Before the season, a network of advisors contacted the Bundesliga club.
Hellmann has now revealed this in a documentary by DAZN “3 perspectives – premier class in the heart of Europe”.
Hellmann to BILD: “It is true. They even had a financing plan already drawn up.”
Background: Ronaldo had missed the Champions League with his former club Manchester United. But the hyper-ambitious Portuguese wanted to play with power in the premier class. Eintracht now believes that many Champions League participants have offered it to test the market.
Krösche and Hellmann decided very quickly in the summer that Ronaldo didn’t fit in with Frankfurt: “He’s not an option for us at all.”
