The relationship of Kyrie Irving con Nike has officially come to an end, the sportswear and footwear sales company said Monday. The decision came a month after the company suspended the base of Brooklyn as a result of his message on Twitter in which he posted a link to a film with anti-Semitic content.
It wasn’t a surprise breakup, especially after the co-founder of Nike, Phil Knight, indicated days after Irving’s suspension that they had doubts whether there would be a reconciliation. “Kyrie Irving stopped being a Nike athlete”the company said in a statement.
Irving’s agent and stepmother, Shetellia Riley Irvingtold The New York Times that the parties “mutually decided to part ways and we wish Nike the best.” Irvingnot to mention a Nike by name, it appears that he referred to the matter on his Twitter account.
“Anyone who has spent their hard earned money on any attachment I released, I consider them family and we are connected forever, ”wrote the player from the Nets. “It’s time to show how strong we are as a community.”

Irving has been using his Nike flagship line in the most recent games. It is not known if the end of the employment relationship with Nike will affect this, at least in the short term. He has been a Nike athlete his entire professional career, which started in 2011and received the first shoe bearing his name in 2014.
Nike suspended Irving in early Novemberdays before the sneakers went on sale Kyrie 8.
Irving he missed eight games before he returned with the Nets November 20th. He apologized that day to those who were threatened or injured by the publication from the documentary league and acknowledged that he should have handled the clarification of whether he has anti-Semitic beliefs differently.
