NBA recalls James Wiseman from Golden State – .

After seven games played in the G League with sister team, the Santa Cruz Warriors, James Wiseman is back on Golden State’s roster. Management assigned Wiseman to the Santa Cruz development team three weeks ago after he struggled in the first few games of the NBA season. The Dubs had decided to send Wiseman to the G League to give him more time and space to work on his individual qualities.

Wiseman was particularly affected by injuries and bad luck, e he hasn’t played a full season of basketball in four full years. In 2019-20, his only year in college, he played just three games with the Memphis Tigers before being suspended for receiving $11,000 from his head coach Penny Hardaway to “ease” a decision to play in Memphis. Called up by the Warriors with the second overall pick in 2020, he broke his meniscus in his rookie season, and also had several physical problems the following year.

In seven games with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Wiseman averaged 15.6 points and 10.1 rebounds in nearly 27 minutes. We still don’t know what his role will be with Golden State and if he will be able to gain many minutes on the pitch right away. Steve Kerr, head coach of the Dubs, said he is not ready to upset the rotations of him, but he will certainly leave more room for Wiseman if he proves he deserves it.

The Warriors are busy Wednesday in Salt Lake City against the Jazz, and Wiseman should be available to take the field. The Dubs will be without Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins, all three out with injuries. The second overall pick of 2020 will therefore have the opportunity to play for several minutes, and immediately demonstrate that he deserves an important role.
