NBA Most Valuable Player Award named after Michael Jordan

The NBA announced last week that the MVP award is about to change, announcing that a new award will be named after Podolof, which will go to the team with the best win-loss margin in the regular season.

The MVP trophy also has another connection to Jordan. It has a pentagonal base – a tribute to his five MVP awards. The name tag is hexagonal, with one corner for each of his championships, but the base is angled at 15 degrees, Jordan’s 15 seasons in the league.

Other trophies that have changed before are named in honor of Joe Dumars (role model in sports), Red Auerbach (Coach of the Year), Kobe Bryant (All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award), as well as Larry O’Brien (Trophy for NBA Champions). and Bill Russell (NBA Finals MVP).

There will also be new Eastern Conference and Western Conference Championship Trophies, named after Bob Cousy and Oscar Robertson, respectively, as well as the Larry Bird Award (Eastern Conference Finals MVP) and the Irvin “Magic” Johnson Award (Western Conference Finals MVP).

The league has also introduced division champion awards, naming them in honor of Nat Clifton (Atlantic Division), Wayne Embry (Central Division), Earl Lloyd (Southeast Division), Willis Reed (Southwest Division), Sam Jones (Northwest Division) and Chuck Cooper (Quiet oceanic division).
