Morocco and Croatia, the rivals waiting for La Roja

round of 16

The North Africans would be the opponent if Spain comes second, and the Balkans if Luis Enrique’s block finishes first

Morocco or Croatia. Those are Spain’s possible opponents in the event that La Roja seal their qualification for the round of 16. Barring a catastrophe, Luis Enrique’s team will be in the next round of matches. If they finish in first position, they will face the second in group F, this is a Croatia that is experiencing the end of an excellent generation and which they already knocked out in extra time at Euro 2020. If they qualify as second, the rival will be the North African team, with whom they already met in the World Cup in Russia: it happened in the group stage, and the match ended in a tie (2-2).

Part by part. If it ends as the first group, Spain’s roadmap would be as follows. First, Croatia. The meeting will be Monday at four in the afternoon. If it goes to the next round, in the quarterfinals, as long as the logic is fulfilled, the opponent will be Brazil. And already in the semifinals, everything makes one think of Argentina, although it could also be the Netherlands.

If, on the other hand, they finish as runners-up in group E, La Roja will face a Morocco that has broken the forecasts and has left Belgium and Croatia behind. The meeting will be on Tuesday, also at four in the afternoon. From there, the possible adversary in the quarterfinals would be Portugal, and in the semifinals, France or England.

The balance against

  • Croatia
Nine games. Five wins, one draw and three losses.

  • Morocco
Three parties. Two wins and a draw.
