MMA | Breathtaking performance. The battered hero earned words of appreciation. I’m sad, nothing cheers me up, he admits

A great point after the Ostrava tournament Oktagon 37. Kozma once again showed that it was not for nothing that he sat on the royal throne for over four years. But now he was robbed of the most valuable thing in the role of a fighter by the twenty-five-year-old Brazilian Kaik Brito, who took care of something that no one else had managed to do for many years before.

“It was definitely not a good performance because I lost. I can’t be happy with it. The fact that people say it was good doesn’t make me happy because I lost. I just lost, I’m sad and nothing can cheer me up,” admitted a grumpy Kozma, whose incredible performance earned words of appreciation from all possible quarters. During the match, for example, Uzbek fighter Makhmud Muradov, who was watching from the front row, also appreciated it.

The pink panther experienced rough moments, the duel was finally ended in the third round by the head referee Jan Voborník. Kozma could hardly stand on his feet. “I was still conscious. I kept thinking that I would somehow be able to survive, but even my team said that referee Voborník ended it correctly. I haven’t seen it, I have to look at it, but if my team says so too, then I’m probably fine with it…well, not fine, I’m sad, but I have to respect it,” he explains.

The sixth career defense and the fight with the talented Briton will rank among the hardest matches of the career. “It was definitely a tough match, even one of the toughest in my career. But I don’t know if it’s the hardest. I still have the one with Apollo as the hardest, where it lasted for five laps, here, on the other hand, he finished me off in the third lap. It wasn’t that physically demanding,” admitted the 30-year-old native of Karviná, who continues to rank the bloody battle with the Brazilian Leandro Silva first.

The key to Briton’s triumph was a feared attitude. “I didn’t see his punches. I always thought I could see his front and back and dodge it. But Kaik always hit it so accurately that I didn’t see it. I have to focus on that next time and improve my defense,” realizes a battered Kozma, who, among other things, left the match with a badly painted face, including a swollen nose. “I touched it and it shouldn’t be broken. It hurts a little, it’s bruised and blue,” he said with a smile.

On the contrary, the traditional tactics of throwing the opponent under him and then working on the ground did not work for Kozma. “I have to play the match again, I can’t look back now. But when the takedowns didn’t work out for me, it was definitely a problem, because I wanted to throw him to the ground,” he describes the match tactics.

After a tough battle that kept the audience out of their seats, a week-long break will come. After that, the preparation for the next calendar year will begin.. “Next year, Tipsport Gamechanger (a project of the Oktagon MMA organization with a subsidy exceeding 24 million crowns – editor’s note) awaits me, which starts in March in Ostrava. I don’t know who I’ll be fighting yet, but I’m looking forward to it. Now I’ll take a week off and from that next week I’ll start preparing again,” added Kozma.
