The White Sox have agreed to a five-year, $75 million deal with outfielder Andrew Benintendi, MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported Friday.
Benintendi is coming off reaching career highs in 2022 in batting average (.304), on-base percentage (.373) and strikeout rate (14.8%). His 120 OPS+ and Baseball-Reference 3.2 WAR were second only to what he did in 2018.
Defensively, he regressed a bit, according to a stat from his 2021 Gold Glove campaign. His Defensive Runs Saved dropped from seven to two, far from the 11 and 12 he had in 2017 and 2018. , respectively, while he was still with the Red Sox.
