Without the injured Luka Doncic and Maximilian Kleber, the Mavs lost 115:144 in Chicago. The Bulls were already leading by 82:53 at half-time, setting a team-internal record for most points in one half.

The top scorer of the game was Chicago’s DeMar DeRozan (28 points), followed by Dallas’ Spencer Dinwiddie (27) and Christian Wood (21). For the hosts from Chicago, all players scored at least one point, with seven even scoring double-digits.

“When you concede 82 points in the first half it’s going to be hard to beat anyone,” said Mavs coach Jason Kidd after the game. While Chicago is now on 11 wins and 14 losses, Dallas has a balanced record of 13:13 after the second loss in a row.

Warriors are back

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors set an exclamation mark in the repeat of last year’s NBA Finals against the Boston Celtics. Led by their stars Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, the reigning champions won 123-107.

Thompson scored 24 of his 34 points in the first half. Curry had 32 points, seven assists and six rebounds. The host’s most successful thrower was Jaylen Brown with 31 points.

“It’s always nice to respond with a good performance,” Thompson said. The Warriors previously lost twice in a row and rank eighth in the Western Conference.
