Martinez succession meeting postponed for ‘practical reasons’

The board of directors of the Belgian Football Union as well as the press conference which was to result from it have been postponed “for practical reasons”, announced the URBSFA on Sunday.

“As the Board of Directors cannot meet due to the absence of a number of Directors, the Monday afternoon press conference has been postponed. A new date will be communicated as soon as possible”, communicated the RBFA.

Peter Bossaert, CEO of the Belgian federation, was to present the results of the World Cup during this board of directors. The main points on the agenda should relate to the positions of technical director and national coach, left vacant by Roberto Martinez in the wake of the elimination of the Red Devils from the group stage in Qatar.

But, internally, our colleagues from HLN reveal that there are some tensions between Peter Bossaert and the board of directors. Indeed, the members of the latter would criticize the CEO of the federation for the way he handled this file. In recent months, Peter Bossaert had been asked to prepare a plan for the succession of Roberto Martinez. Request that got no response, which had the gift of pissing off the board of directors…
