Manuel Sánchez is double tennis champion at La Loma CD – El Sol de San Luis

Manuel Sánchez from Potosí made good the forecasts of being the first seed in the Open Tennis Tournament organized by La Loma Centro Deportivo, by proclaiming himself the double champion of the second edition.

Sánchez Montemayor, 31, not only won the title in singles but also in doubles, so after an intense week of matches, he closed it with a flourish.

In the first edition, the local tennis player had to settle for runner-up after losing the final, however this time it was for revenge, he repeated the final but now he managed to win the title.

He played the final against the Argentine Luciano Doria, 29 years old and seeded two, so it was an even match, which was defined by a narrow margin, since from start to finish the two tennis players showed their best weapons, but it was the Mexican who He achieved the important points in those key moments.

The first set ended 6-4 for Manuel, current national champion. In the second sleeve the situation did not change, Doria and Sánchez engaged in a great duel on the hard surface court of La Loma. It had to be defined in sudden death, after a 6-6, which was in favor of the local 7-3, to win in two straight sets, the latter 7-6.

An hour later, Manuel, already with the title won in singles, played the doubles final, teaming up with the 27-year-old from Vallarta, Gerardo “Gerry” López, facing again the Argentine Luciano Doria and the Jalisco Eduardo Orozco.

The Sánchez – López duo managed to impose conditions and not allow their rivals to go ahead in the score, for which they resolved the match in straight sets, with partials of 6-3 and 6-3, to keep the crown of champions of double.

At the end, the award ceremony was headed by Juan López, general referee, and authorities from La Loma. Trophies and cash prizes were awarded, 52,000 for the singles champion, 25,000 runner-up, while in doubles the monarchs added 16,200 pesos, and finalists 8,000 pesos, out of a total of 150,000 pesos that were distributed, with the sponsorship of several brands, including Ciudad Maderas, which contributed a good amount through its representative Jorge Palizzada.
