LAS TORRES DE COTILLAS / 125 athletes will participate in Las Torres de Cotillas in the Spanish under-13 badminton championship

Las Torres de Cotillas will host a new high-level badminton championship, in this case the Spanish sub-13 championship “Champion Wanted” organized by the Spanish Badminton Federation. This competition will be held at the Mireia Belmonte municipal pavilion from December 16 to 18 and the best Spanish badminton rackets aged 9 to 12 will participate.

125 athletes from 54 clubs from all over Spain will participate, for a total of 267 matches, and the semifinals and finals will take place on Sunday morning. The planned categories are men’s and women’s singles, as well as men’s, women’s and mixed doubles. The organization will award prizes to the first three classified in each category and gifts to all participants.

Great Torreña presence

This tournament, which will put an end to the 2022 season, was presented today, Tuesday, December 13, at the Torreño City Hall in an act chaired by the mayor, Francisco Jesús López Manzanera; the General Director of Sports, Fran Sánchez; and the secretary of the Badminton Federation of the Region of Murcia (FEBAMUR), Antonio Brao.

“I am proud to be able to say that 8 of the 12 members of the Murcian team will be from Torres, 6 girls and two boys from Badminton Las Torres. It is a milestone in the history of this club and of badminton in Las Torres de Cotillas,” says López Manzanera, which highlights the history of the municipality hosting major sports tournaments.

This Spanish championship is a recognized project of the Spanish Badminton Federation for the recruitment of talents that has Carolina Marín as a luxury godmother.
